Lunchroom/Gymnasium Project Update

Building Progress Update Report:

It has been thirty days since the last update. I do not know where the time has gone but we are getting closer and closer to being able to move into the new facility. As you can see from the pictures that have been posted the new bleachers are being installed. The west side is about complete and the east side should be close to completion by this Friday, 3/16. You can also see the wall pads have been installed and add a lot to the overall project. The new lockers have been shipped and are due to arrive for installation to begin Friday, 3/16. I will be placing a videotape building tour there in the near future.

The fund raising committee has been busy and many donors have stepped forward to sponsor projects that will add to the usefulness and beauty to the project. I will be releasing a list of the various donations we have received and ask anyone interested in supporting the new gymnasium project to call me and I’ll let you know of some of the needs we are trying to fill.

I would ask that you place Saturday, April 21^st on your calendars. That is the night we plan to have an evening of events that will feature using the new facilities. Plans include the American Legion presenting the colors as they do at all our home games. With the flag ceremony we will have a group of elementary students lead us in the National Anthem. Then the fun will continue. The Deubrook High School “Drum Line” will perform for us during this event. A fund raising pork supper will be served throughout the event. We will have the elementary students playing basketball on the side courts with our new curtain divider down. Following the elementary basketball games, the Deubrook Area Women alumni will play a volleyball game to be followed by the men playing a basketball game. The men and women will be teamed up by odd graduating years versus the even year graduates. Deubrook past and present coaches will be thrown in where needed. There will also be some fund raising activities occurring on the court during the evening that will begin around 5:00 p.m. During the volleyball match up, you can serve a volleyball over the net and if you hit a tee shirt laying on the other side you gets a specially made tee shirt commemorating this event. We will also shoot basketballs and if you make a basket you win you a tee shirt. Chances will be $1.00 per try.
